Dangerous Destiny by Suzanne & Melanie Brockmann mère et fille is an introductory prequel novella to their Night Sky series of YA dystopian paranormal urban fantasy adventures set in a near-future Florida where a seemingly-ordinary girl discovers that she has mysterious powers and some kind of inevitable world-saving fight against some sort of supernatural drug, as seemingly-ordinary girls tend to do, free courtesy of publisher Casablanca's Fire imprint.

This may or may not contain romantic elements, as one of the co-authors is a RITA Award-winning romance novelist, but this and the rest of the series seem to be filed only under the plain urban fantasy/paranormal suspense categories and the blurbs all emphasize the action/adventure element, so YMMV.

Technically, this was previously offered free last summer, but doesn't seem to have ever gotten mentioned on MR, so it's nice to see it pop up again, apparently to promote the upcoming 2nd-in-series, Wild Sky, which is slated for release in October.
