Text-to-speech and other functions

Can anyone tell me if Nook options like text-to-speech work if you purchase your ePub from a retailer other than B&N?

What about other options or functions? Anything NOT work if you buy your ePub elsewhere?

I don't think the NOOK has any sort of text-to-speech functionality at all.

I had heard of something called Nook Study with TTS; must be an app. Thus the confusion.

Thanks.

That's okay
It's a shame, though

Those where B&N "NOOK read to Me (tm)" books and are primarily kids books.

I've rooted and ROMed my Nook to have CM9 (Android 4.0) installed on my nook. With Moon+ I listen to TTS ePUB books all the time. For PDFs I use ezPDF.

I don't know if the default nook has TTS but if you rooted your nook device and isntalled Moon+ you might be able to use TTS on ePUB.

My Nook color is rooted and I use TTS also. I don't think Nook or Nook color stock has TTS enabled.
