Smith, E.E. "Doc": Triplanetary

Triplanetary served as the basis for Doc Smith's classic Lensman series.

Taking a zen approach, I have added nothing to the Project Gutenberg version except to reformat the titles for each chapter. All of their included art work is included here.

Smith was a real life PhD in chemistry and is considered one of the pioneers of modern scientific scifi.

If you like this be sure to download Spacehounds of IPC. If you liked Spacehounds of IPC be sure to download this one too.

Total time from download to upload, fifteen minutes.

This is an old-fashioned space-opera for those too young to know. If you're REALLY young, then you need to know that a space-opera is something that takes place in the whole cosmos as a backdrop -- you know, sorta like a western without horses!

Great fun, corny dialogue, outragous scenes [melodramatic], and a sweeping story that will take you along for a great ride -- you know, without the horse!

WARNING: Do not read this story if you have lost your sense of wonder.

Don

It's a genre which is still "alive and well". Kevin Anderson's "Saga of the Seven Suns" series is an excellent modern example of it.

"Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" have thoroughly revived the genre.
BTW this is the magazine version of the story. It has been later rewritten to fit the Lensman series, but it is not the base of the series.

Thanks for the correction. Since it has been almost 40 years since I read the Lensman series I will plead bad memory.

Uploaded version 2 with corrections to the author name. Seems that "Doc" messed up the software and did not display properly on the Reader.

Don't forget that Star Trek has been doing this for a long time as well. It's been doing it without the need for a revival like Star Wars.
