Calibre will only connect to one device at a time.

I have a Kobo Touch and use Calibre. When I connect the KT to the computer and open Calibre, there is a delay but then a generic picture of an e-reader appears up on the top bar of Calibre which says (I think) "Connected to device". The top bar also gets a blue and white symbol that looks like a card which is called "Send to device". When you highlight a book in the Calibre library and click on the symbol, it should put the book onto the Kobo.

Having said that, I have had a few problems with the screen telling me that the book has been put on the device, but then when I eject the Kobo, the book isn't there. I have found a way round that, so post again if this doesn't work for you.

Book possum,
I alread hve a 650 which is currently with Sony waiting for a replacement T1 which is still 2weeks away hence the Kobo for next weeks holiday. I understand what you are saying above as I have seen it with the 650.
With the Kobe I am seeing nothing in Calibre to indicate that theres a reader in place. Windows 7 sees it and lets me right click on a book and send it to the Kobo, so I can still read but its going to be a pain in the next loading my collection, I f you can provide any help it would be appreacited

Check that your Kobo drivers are still enabled.
Preference: Plugins: Device interface.
While you are at it, check your Save template/plugboards to see if there is something invalid (to the Kobo) in one.

This is a Calibre forum
Templates and Plug-boards are Calibre save option settings.
The Driver version you mention sounds like a KOBO supplied one.

BTW
What version of Calibre are you using?
Problem fixes and updatess happen weekly.

OK. Got it.
You are on the current Calibre.

Can the Kobo be seen (as a drive) in Windows explorer?
If yes, the device ID may have been changed and you need to run the (new) device detection (preferences: Misc.) and post both the results to get the driver updated.

Run calibre in debug mode to see whether any errors are encountered and post the results.

Hi Toby
I had the original Kobo and then upgraded to the Kobo Touch. The older Kobo worked really well with Calibre and managed everything from within Calibre. But the touch doesn't link in the same. I use calibre to convert my books then drag and drop the file to the reader.

Can you explain the issues you are having? I don't see any differences in any of the versions that I have including the touch.

Its a kobo ereader non touch. I am using windows 7 and the kobo is seen by windows 7 but when I run Calibre it does not pick the kobo up at all. Have transfered books to it direct from windows via send to.
thanks for the assistance
