Running the ignoblekey script gives me the error that it cannot locate the B&N reader software so that bombed out. Ignoblekeygen runs though. Am I correct in assuming that I can generate a key using this software WITHOUT needing to have the B&N reader software loaded, and that the generated key will work for ignobleepub to generate the final book file? Is there a book I can test this on before I actually purchase one from B&N? Also, if I only download the book directly to my Nook via Wi-Fi, do I need to have the B&N reader to get it to my hard drive so I can work with it using these scripts? (I know...newbie question...)
If you are already using Calibre, look for the new Calibre plugins that replace using the scripts. Once you install them (use the readme file in the same folder) you will simply buy the book, follow the link to your B&N library and then download, saving the book somewhere you can find it. Then drag the book into Calibre and presto "drm free"

cheers

The Calibre plugin works like a charm. It almost couldn't get any easier.

This caught my eye. I don't work in code in any way but have Calibre and wish to know how and where to find those new Calibre plugins. Have not been successful with the Python tool. It still seem to be above my pay grade.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Apprentice Alf's Blog is the best place to read about DRM issues. The plug-ins are in the tools_2.3 bundle. This bundle is also your best source for the latest stand-alone utilities for stripping DRM.

E-book DRM frustration

I'm an avid E-Book reader with my iPod and am having a real hard time dealing with those pesky DRM's. I found Stanza to be the best and Goodreader for pdf's.
What I am baffled by is getting Calibre to work right so I can read those E-books I've purchased from a variety of vendors with my Apps of choice.

I would be most thrilled and incredibly appreciative if someone, anyone, could contact me off-list with their phone number and and appropriate time to call who I can have a walk-through to get this working on my Mac.

I've been frustrated by many of the terms and descriptions used as well as the various files and their uses and been sent down several off roads that just caused my sight to blur. Exasperated.

Anyone, I need a Talk-through. I'm not dense, just not familiar with the confusing terms everyone uses.

Me, I'm getting to end of MY rope with DRM's, too. I've got the latest stuff but am having a hard time working it. I was making some headway with Keith, but seemed to have worn out my welcome with him with my slow and methodical processing of his info.

I've given up with the Adobe stuff for now and am now turning to my B&N books.
The latest Alf stuff asks for a B&N code thing that I think consists of my credit card name and number. What I can't figure out is what is the exact syntax of that code that'll let the plugin work.

Can someone help with that, please?

The Ignoble README gives you this information. One wrinkle is to look on "My NOOK Library" for what B&N thinks your name is for ebooks.
