I'm trying to get a great reading chair for myself, and I thought this would be a great place to fish for ideas. What kind of chairs do you think are conducive to reading? I find that most either you fall asleep in or don't have enough/any neck support (also it's hard to get a good chair for a tall dude).

My ideal is some kind of lounge chair that has good leg & arm supports, but I'd like to hear everyone else on what they use and what their ideal could be if they were to get a new chair.
I have the answer if you're near a store or online - the Ikea bent wood ergonomic chair, a lovely looking piece of curved/bent wood, very Scandinavian looking classic simple design. with some padding. It's incredibly comfortable, and very conducive to a nice long read !
Very reasonably priced, about £100 sterling , and I've had mine for 5 years and it's still as comfy as when I bought it.
Can't remember the model, but I'll look it up if anyone wants me to - they still sell it I know - in leather or linen upholstery.

Found it ! It's called the "Poang" armchair, fabric cushioning, laminated birch, and is at present in UK priced at £55 sterling - incredible value. (Online and in store).
Oh, if you don't mind falling asleep in it - there's a rocking version !

There'squite a few versions of it - upholstery being the difference - from leather/faux leather to a kind of poly stuff which I suppose is for the patio !

I've had two of them. If you're one of the, er, heavier, sort of people like I am, they don't last. On both of mine the wooden frame of the seat support has split after about a year. If you're a "lightweight", I'm sure they're fine.

I've been using this since February. Really comfortable for me to read in.

But I also like an 18th-century high-backed wing-armchair with a footstool. This sort of thing:

That is the type of chair that I use too. It is perfect for reading and I prefer to my lazyboy recliner. You need good posture to avoid back aches, and that chair has it.

I wish I could get a dentist chair (the chair the patient lies on in the dentist office). Adjusted just right, it's damn comfortable.

Yes, that looks about a close second in comfort to my late grandmother's Victorian furniture.

Those of you who went the Lazy Boy route: Do you have pictures and model names/numbers you could post? I really like those Relax the Back Perfect Chairs garrybuck recommended, but what an expensive chair! Even Lazy Boys must be cheaper.
