As the name suggests, porn is more about visual titillation than written eroticism, and though both can do the same job, they do so in physiologically different ways.

This is why I suggested color e-books and porn would go so well together, as color adds that much more impact to images. I've also suggested elsewhere that images of movies and celebrities would be popular for a color e-book reader... I'll add sports figures, nature scenes and animals, and any other visual objects that people like to view (and collect) and carry with them. In my mind, I link porn with these other visual subjects, as opposed to linking porn with romance literature.

I made the comment that, like porn, many people like to be private about reading romance and erotica. I wasn't equating romance novels with porn though personally I have no problem with porn, either. I'm pro sex and pro romance. However, while romance novels are about a lot more than just sex, they usually do have some saucy passages in them so a lot of people don't like to broadcast publicly that they're reading them depending on where they are. They may not be inclined to read them on their lunch break at work or on transit for that reason. I've also had friends that read SciFi and Fantasy but didn't like carrying around the paperbacks that had the more lurid covers. They're not ashamed of reading them but they know some folks might be giving them funny looks or even be offended by the covers, especially if there are kids about. A lot of the romance books have pretty steamy cover art.

I'll also add that color eBooks will also go extremely well in the Children's category. Children are drawn to color more so than the average adult. Parents are more apt to spending money on their children if they deem it has educational value.

ebook readers are going to need to be a lot more durable before they'll be appropriate for colored kid's books, though.

My teacher took up my Stephen King book Carrie because of the cover. yeah I get what you mean.

One thing I do love about the e-ink devices no one can tell what you're reading by the cover.

I would tend to agree with this characteristic. One would certainly have more privacy in the "type"of book they are reading. I just like the fact that I can stuff a 1500 page book in a slim device.

That being said, back to the "war" issue between Kindle and Sony, I think this can be somewhat compared to the Playstation 3 and the Wii wars. Only difference here is that :
1. Sony and Nintendo posted their sales numbers.
2. Sony and Nintendo actively marketed both items.

I honestly feel that Sony has not marketed the ebook reader. The only way I found out they had one is by doing research on different models. And to be completely honest, I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as an e reader till I went to place an order on Amazon; and Kindle was posted all over their website.

I personally prefer Sony's digital products, be it my dvd players, my mp3 player, or my portable dvd player. While features may or may not be present with the model Sony offers... the electronic components tend to be more reliable. I also agree... having a wireless network is the least of my concerns. I am home most of the time anyway, and simply plugging into my computer to download a couple of books is not that much of hinderance in my life.

Now a color reader... I agree... in the children's book genre, this would be beneficial. However, would I give an ereader to my neices and nephews, most definately NOT. Again, this is a feature which I don't feel is necessary.

I think memory, speed, and durability are the key concerns with the hardware. The product support in terms of book availabilty and other software items are just as equally important. My opinion is that if Sony wants to carve their corner of the ebook market, they should focus on these points.

I can't argue with the durability points raised above. I can only suggest some type of padded case to hold the device, something that you'd have to open to use.

I'm so happy I chosed the Sony Reader. Yesterday my cousin was able to get me a New York State library card (I already have one for Dade County public libraries for Miami, Florida), I've been on cloud nine downloading free library books. In fact I had so many choices, I had to make myself stop because the books will expire in 21 days. This will save me a ton of money, since I will be purchasing very few books now that I'm able to check them out the library. Check out the NY library ebook selection, it's really one of the best http://ebooks.nypl.org/FD990950-A44D...rowseBooks.htm ( other libraries that have nice selections are Cleveland, Denver, and Chicago), Miami's is not as extensive as the ones mentioned!!
