It's somewhat strange. Last month, an ebook company of Korea (NUUT) announced that they will install pearl to newly produced readers(old model) since they cannot get vizplex anymore. The person in the company said that vizplex screen is not produced anymore and all readers will eventually install pearl this year unless they have huge amount of vizplex screen in their stock.

Pocketbook has already demoed an uncoming 'PocketBook 360 Plus' with Pearl screen: Doom 2 gets ported to PocketBook 360 Plus e-reader (video).

Yes, they have demonstrated Doom II on PB 360 Plus but screen was vizplex not Pearl.

Finally got a chance to look at the pearl screen on Kindle 3 for a few minutes tonight. Honestly I didn't find much difference in terms of contrast and darkness of the fonts -- in pretty dim light. My comparison was not really scientific. It really depends on the format of files, the fonts used, and personal preference. The PB background is more yellow, Kindle more grey.

As I expected, PB is definitely more comfortable if you read a lot PDF books in landscape mode.
