Adding books without a copy

Hi,

Just wondering, will it be possible in the future to add ebooks to the database without copying the ebooks to the Calibre Library folder? That would save a lot of space on my HD.

I doubt it. The reason Calibre does that on purpose. In the event that something goes wrong during the import process, your data is still safe. Once it is all imported (and you verify it) you can delete the other ebooks or you can back them up someplace to keep them safe.

It is there already.
(under the options for ) Add
"Add empty book"
Then to need to (re)set the title from "Unknown" and you can add the meta-data.
I use this feature to create place holders for series titles that I have yet to buy.

There is a minor "Send to device" bug that gets triggered (generates py errors) if you highlight and send a bunch of titles and there is no books attached to that entry.

The downside....this method takes 5-10 sec/book (mostly waiting time). I'd love a way to create 10+ blanks at a time for when I'm putting in the names of books (in a series) I'd like to get etc.

Yes - it would be nice if the menu option to add a book asked you how many blank entries you want?
