Author Alerts

I realized I have not had a notice from them for a while. I logged in to my account and all of the authors on my list have a zero next to upcoming releases and previous releases. Does anyone know if the site is having problems?

I get Alerts from a few websites, so I didn't realize there was one actually named Author Alerts.

Don't use that one.

There were a few threads on Amazon about Ereaderiq and Authoralerts. The person that runs Ereaderiq posted to say that Amazon was no longer willing to pay them for their links to Amazon that generated sales. I don't know exactly how it used to work. Ereaderiq said they'd keep running for a while on donations and try to find some sort of subscription model that would work. People thought Authoralerts had the same problem but I don't know if that's been verified.

Amazon has had a follow-this-author feature for a while and lately they seem to have added it to most of their author pages. It's never worked for me but maybe they'll improve it. I miss Authoralerts though; it worked very well for me.

I noticed Bookbub and OHFB both have many more paid than free books now.

This poster on Amazon reported they got a message back the site was having tech problems, but seems a lot of people think Author Alerts got caught up in Amazon affiliate code issues just like ereaderiq.

I actually got an Amazon notice a couple of days ago for a book coming out in a year. First one that I've gotten in a long while. Didn't get any notices for another author that I follow who came out with a book last week.

Authoralerts has been down since at least mid-May. In June, they said they were awaiting "for resolution of some account confusion with Amazon" and that they may have to make some corresponding changes. Hopefully they can get it resolved. Authoralerts was much more user friendly than any other alerts I have found, including those from Amazon.
