Opening a URL from the command-line
Clearly, there exists a mechanism to directly open a URL in the Kindle's browser, as evidenced by the Google/Wikipedia search functionality. Has anyone figured out how to do this from the command-line? I'd like to hotkey my many bookmarks with Launchpad for easier access.
Specifically, I'm looking for Kindle 3 info. |

This might help: http://www.dwheeler.com/essays/open-files-urls.html There is a section for Linux, try that

Thanks, but the Kindle doesn't include xdg-open. Anyone else?

There were commands to open web pages using linux commands, in some of yifanlu's launcher menu options. Look there...
Ahh... I see. On the K5, the launcher menu uses lipc commands like this: lipc-set-prop com.lab126.appmgrd start app://com.lab126.gmail/ It looks like lipc only launches commands defined in a config file. You would need to put URLs you want into whatever file lipc is looking in, and then you could launch them... Last edited by geekmaster; 05-04-2012 at 08:06 PM. |

Not possible on the Kindle 3, then? On my end, appmgrd doesn't exist.
