No, nothing as of the last time mine was hooked up, about an hour ago. I doubt there will be one before the iPhone 4.0 release in a few months unless there's some glaring issue that needs fixing right away.

There is no OS update due until fall but I suppose that is not the same as a firmware update.

The reason I'm asking is that someone at one of the local Apple Stores claims that all the issues with the iPad have been fixed. And since there hasn't been a firmware update, it has to be hardware and thus, it would seem that all those who rushed to get an iPad get (yet again) screwed by Apple for going for the first released version of a new product. |

I'm curious about the "issues" as well. I haven't had any problems with mine at all. It's been rock stable.

I don't know if there was an update, but I haven't been kicked offline at all today, as compared to every previous day when it dropped me a dozen or more per day.

The issues I have read about are the wifi problem and the overheating in sunlight.

They might fix the WiFi issue via updates, but the overheating in the sun?

Unfortunately those are likely hardware issues that probably won't be fixed with an OS update.
The wifi is probably a bad wifi card in some models and/or just a card that doesn't pick up great reception across the board. It could be a driver issue I suppose as my laptop had problems dropping wifi until I updated the wifi card driver. Overheating though, I don't see how that could possibly be fixed with an OS update as that's clearly a hardware issue. Though that one seems pretty moot to me since it only happens in direct sunlight and the screen is very hard to see in direct sunlight anyway. |
