WWDC keynote now! New MacBook! No tablet/netbook mentioned!
http://i.gizmodo.com/5283256/new-15+...d-sd-card-slot
Yep. So far all we've seen announced is a 15" Macbook, a $700 price cut on the Macbook Air and NO announcement of a netbook/tablet-pc or ebook reader - YET! Derek |

I'm not holding my breath. There's always that upswing of "netbooks!" but it by the time it comes most the analysists are all saying the opposite.
I would be happy to be wrong. |

The keynote is a bare 20 mins old when you started this thread.
Although I don't not expect an eReader or large iPod or NetBook etc. BOb |

Yeah, THAT's how you do an upgrade price.
And Leopard wasn't the steaming pile Vista was (though, admittedly, got much better after the SP). |

Actually, there is still hope for "One More Thing."
SJ has not appeared yet, and they are already talking about the new phone. If they show him today, it may be to introduce something totally new... (tablet :-) Or, he may be the actual "One More Thing." We'll find out in a few minutes. |

Now they're demoing an iPhone ebook reader by Scroll Motion http://www.icebergreader.com/ looks propietary and nasty to me, although they're claiming 1million books come the launch.

More than likely, I just want to know what this 'iceberg' reader is all about. Is it some kind of self-contained app where the books themselves are wrapped up in a non-open container? Some new format that will further require DRM and ridiculous workarounds to get any use out of the product.

From their website it says Iceberg maintains pagination. This means that there are individual book pages, just like in the print copy of a book. This helps keep you oriented while reading, and serves as reference points for our notes and search features.
If this is so, it can't possibly be a reflowable format, can it? |

Derek Yep, just as I've thought, if you look at the 'adjustable font size' features page, you'll see that large font sizes result in cut-off sentences at the bottom of the screen. Yep - REAL professional - NOT! Last edited by delphidb96; 06-08-2009 at 02:43 PM. |
