I see a lot of "transferring data from dragcave.net" going on. These dragons may be taking their toll.

I am now running Ad Block Plus and added dragcave.net to my blocking rules. While I don't see Nate, Ricky, and Nekomi's dragons any more... this has improved those hangs that I was seeing.

It appears dragcave.net just doesn't have the best bandwidth/performance.
