Jailbreak a Kindle Voyage without touching the touchscreen?

So my Voyager works just fine (display, Wifi, press zones on the left and right bezel), but the touchscreen does not. Three minor cracks visibible, no funtion. I wanted to use it as a display for weather etc., but to do that I need to jailbreak it first. And I have not found a instruction how to do that without touch screen usage. Any ideas here? Too much working on this device to use it as brick...

Serial port is your best bet, assuming you have the equipment and can work with the relatively delicate connections on the board. See the thread on serial JB for details of required equipment and procedure.

How do you move from book to book without the touch screen?

It is possible to do factory updates without the touchscreen, by rebooting the device with the update file in place.

But you would have to know if you are still on a supported software version.

But after you get the vulnerable version installed, you still need to type in the keyboard ';installHtml', which you cannot do without touchscreen, unless it is possible to use the press zones to type in some way.

If you do end up doing serial port, I have some kernel modules I wrote that can give you a usb mouse and keyboard on paperwhite 3, it shoudl work on voyage too. and then you can plug in usb any time you want to click on something on the screen.

I suggest calling Amazon and telling them about your Voyage. maybe they can give you a discount on a replacement.

I think it's only going to get worse given that the touch layer is broken.
