Different models of paper whites
I have a paper white 1 and a friend has a paper white 2. When I put them side by side I can not tell them apart. Do paper whites have serial numbers that can be used to tell which model they are? Is there any way to tell the different models appart?

If memory serves doesn't the PW1 still have the Amazon logo and the PW2 doesn't? I can not tell on mine since I have a Decalgirl skin on mine.

The 2012 model says Kindle on the back, while the 2013 model has an Amazon logo.

Turn up the light on both, and look at the screen from a slanted angle: the difference should be obvious.

Just turn them over so you can see the back of each unit. There's the difference!


Paperwhite 1 = Kindle
Paperwhite 2 = Amazon

Paperwhite 1 = blotchy lighting
Paperwhite 2 = practically perfect lighting

Awww, that's not fair. My PW1 had very nice even lighting.

Of course, that didn't stop me from replacing it with a PW2.
