moving apps from data to system
Now that i've freed up some space in system/apps, i'd like to make use of it by moving some apps from data/apps;
Since i'm still a noob to the root, i'd like to ask first: is it safe to move some app apk's to system/apps with root explorer? |

It should be. But the app must not be running, so close it via Settings/Applications
There are tools that can move them for you. This one is free: https://market.android.com/details?i...nup.Inteks.org Also, you'll need to clean up dalvik cache because system apps will get their own cache files. And you may also have to run fix_permissions afterwards. But: if you have system partition mounted rw and there is a crash, then there will be file system corruption. Don't panic - nothing will get lost, but the free space of the system partition might be limited until you do a e2fsck. |

alright, thanks;
started with moving ebookdroid to system: works and keeps settings, all good; i did use root explorer though, which i think is worth the investment (3€) also thanks for pointing out the change in the dalvik cache, the new cache file gets created automatically and thus i can reclaim some space again by deleting the previous one; |
