Amazon Launches SF/Fantasy/Horror Imprint "47North"
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....5727&highlight
Apparently they intend to publish new and backlist titles. Paper versions will be available to other retailers. I'm assuming Kindle titles are exclusive. I'd list the names but am not deep enough into these genres to recognize any of 'em. I also didn't realize Amazon already has a number of imprints. |

Wonder why they grouped horror in with science fiction and fantasy. Seems like a different demographic to me (for example, I like SF and fantasy but can't stand horror).

Anyway, I'm not sure these are necessarily fantasy, but they feel more akin to fantasy than to horror. Therefore, I can see the common grouping. In the titles listed in the imprint, I can see a more than average share of these urban fantasy / paranormal themes. |

BV Larson is great and Evan Currie's Odyssey One is an awesome space opera. Both are/were self-published indie authors, congrats to them on their success.

Historically the borders between the three were not all that strongly defined and many of the early (pre-Astounding) venues mixed and matched at will as did the writers. |

Even though I know it's simple to convert even DRMd Kindle format to ePub, I'm not going to buy any ebooks from any Kindle-only publisher, whether it's Amazon or an independent.

And yeay - this'll be available for non-US-customers as well (at least I could pre-order the first example via amazon Germany) |
