Problem Acessing sony reader via caliber
I have a Sony eReader prs900 and recently I have been unable to "see" the device in caliber. I am running caliber v0.7.38 running on a windows 7 system. I have disabled auto start of the sony ereaderlibrary app and deleted the media.xml file (just in case it was a problem caused by the sony app). The SOny app and windows explorer can see the device no problem. Suggestions?

Update
I have tried several times restarting it in debug mode. The first few times I noticed it was showing itunes related info. I disconnected my ipod and shut down itunes and this time I saw my device. (quickly syncing the device). I tehn shut down caliber and restarted the borders app to push a few borders books to the device. I then restarted caliber (unplugging an replugging the reader first, and once again the device does not show. Latest debug log is listed below:
calibre Debug log calibre 0.7.40 Windows-7-6.1.7600 Windows ('Windows', '7', '6.1.7600') Python 2.7.0 Windows: ('7', '6.1.7600', '', 'Multiprocessor Free') Starting up... Started up in 3.02000021935 |

Kovid didn't want you to start in debug mode. Kovid wanted you to go to:
Once you have done this post the results here. Also if you're charging any Apple device on your computer, remove it. |

That isn't what kovid asked for either, but it helps.
There seems to be no media.xml file on the device's main memory. Alternatively, it is malformed. Unplug the reader, let it finish scanning, and try again. If that doesn't fix it, then do a hard reset (not a revert to system default). |

I have the same problem. I have a Sony prs-650 which have worked fine until today. I use Calibre 0.7.18 and Ubuntu. Ubuntu can see both the internal drive of the device and the sd-card I have also. Calibre can't see the device anymore. I have not changed any settings. media.xml exists and a reset of the device didn't help.

It does not appear as if Calibre is even checking for the Sony. You might want to check under Preferences->Plugins->Device Interface Plugins that the Sony device driver is enabled.

@itimpi Thank you for guiding in the right direction. I checked the Device Interface Plugins section as you suggested. It turns out that I had misunderstood the interface and disabled the Sony device driver instead of enabling it. I didn't expect all device drivers to be enabled initially. So it all works fine now :-)
Thanks again! |
