Calibre Lite Dev

This is a request to find and hire a Calibre developer, that is, someone with Calibre custom programming experience.

Our requirement is to first strip away all of Calibre's textbook management features, anything and everything except the ability to properly display a single EPUB document. We'll call what's left Calibre Lite with a link to full-featured Calibre. A detailed requirements document for Calibre Lite is available.

Second, we need to make this Calibre Lite accessible to the disabled. We have plenty of accessibility experience so we can guide the development with specific accessibility-compliant adjustments. With Calibre Lite's few features, the accessibility adjustments will not be many.

We also have online transactional programming experience, but we have never touched Calibre's code.

If interested, please respond here or to pshikli@access2online.com with your bio, Calibre development history, and your hourly rate.

Cheers,
Peter Shikli

It sounds as if what you want is the calibre ebook-viewer component. Take a look at the ebook-viewer.exe file as part of a Windows install. Similar for a Linux install while for MacOS it's part of the calibre app.

calibre ebook viewer

David,

Thanks for the referral, the calibre ebook viewer seems like a much better starting point for our development than regular Calibre.

Our Project Lead will look that over as soon as the New Year is behind us. She will adjust our requirements to remove any other features not needed for our Calibre Lite, and then adjust for the remaining modifications needed to make it accessible to the disabled.

Thank you,
Peter
