Google apps are getting to be HUGE resource hogs. If you don't use them there is no need to keep them updated. Google Play Services however you are forced to have.
Best thing to do is turn off automatic updates in Google Play and update manually apps you actually use. |

Play Games Play Books Play Movies & TV Play Newstand Play Music I didn't turn off the Play Services and Play Store Rebooted and then it started draining again. So I turned everything back on and updated. When I first uninstalled the updates and then reinstalled them it seemed to fix the problem. Will see what happens. |

Yes I tried that. I uninstalled the updates for the Google apps. It seems to work for a while, then Google Play Services will start using a lot of battery again and I have to uninstall the updates and reinstall them again.

OK. Charged it up. Unplugged it. Registered 100%. 3 hours later it is at 80% and it had not been used. Just sitting there with the cover closed. Doesn't that seem like a lot of battery to drain for just sitting there off?

Yes it does, at this point I would tell you to do a factory reset and slowly put your apps back on till it happens again then you will know the culprit or you can uninstall one by one till it stops. That's the only solution I can think of.

Well duh! My brain must've been somewhere else. For some reason I didn't associate when you said sync apps with my apps that sync with the cloud.
Anyway I checked that. Got a sync error for Google and Samsung Account. I went into Google and disabled the sync for Chrome, Books, Movies & TV, Newstand, Google+, Photos, Google+ uploads, Internet, People details, Picasa Web albums. I don't think I use those. I left synced App Data, Calendar, Contacts, Drive, & Gmail. I also stopped the Samsung Account. Looking back now, when I would swipe down I would get a message that Samsung Client stopped or something. Anyway I'll see how this works out. So far at 8:00 pm last night I had 75% battery and this morning at 8:00 am I had 69%. So that's a lot better. Thanks for your help. Hopefully this will be fixed. |

seems like you have the Google Play app oddness that is actually not unusual. Some solutions are:
1. uninstal updates (you did that); 2. clear the app's cache and data; 3. factory reset of the N8 My Moto X 2014 had this issue a week or so ago after the recent Google Play services update. I found clearing the cache fixed my issue. Maybe that's ll you need. If you search for battery drain "Googly Play services" you'll see it happens. https://www.google.com/search?q=goog...m=122&ie=UTF-8 good luck! |

I can tell you one app that will drain your battery like no other. It's the Swagbucks app. Not the TV ones the one that let you access the mobile version the site. I removed it about a week ago because my SGP5 was losing alot of battery in standby. It go from 100 to 75% in hours even with WiFi off. Once I removed it my SGP5 now has been at 75% in standby for a week like it use to. I thought it was just getting old but even GSAM never showed it as the culprit.
