Div Tags for Text Positioning for Fixed Layout eBooks for Kindle Fire

I am creating a Fixed Layout eBook for Kindle Fire. The book I am working on includes pages of bulleted text. To reproduce this, each paragraph has to be positioned precisely. To avoid having to put the measurements for each para I included them in div tags. The div tags have fixed positions but the enclosed text does not; the text being held in position by the div tags. If I wish to wrap the text around a picture for example, I have to include 2-3 div tags on the one page. In general this seems to work, the only problem is when I move the mobi file to the Kindle Fire, sometimes the text flows differently, taking up more lines which means that the text in the upper div runs into the text in the lower div. I suppose this is because the text has not been given a fixed position.

The problem is that as the text flow is different on the computer and Kindle Fire, you can't predict how the text will look on the computer unless you convert the whole thing to mobi and move it onto the Kindle.

I wonder if anyone has experimented with this. and can advise me.

You're going to be in a world of hurt doing it this way.

Use SVG. Fixed-layout content is probably the one thing that SVG is really good at doing.
