MobileRead forum is requesting authentication upon entering any forum
When entering any forum, the site pops up an authentication request dialog.
Is one of the images used in the forums located inside a protected folder, or lost the rights to be viewed, or something? Last edited by Katsunami; 02-28-2014 at 09:04 AM. |

I just started getting this too. Looked at a couple of forums with no issue, but it's now popping up on every forum. Probably an issue with an ad or something?

There is more information forthcoming. An announcement is being prepared, and those of you who experienced this (everyone above and several others) will soon get a PM.
In the meantime, it would be a good idea to change your MobileRead password. |

Sounds bad. Thanks for the suggestion; password was changed.
Ah, well. That's why one should use different, 50 characters long passwords for every site and store them using something such as Keepass. |

The good news is that it was contained so quickly. Still, as a precaution, it's a good idea to change the password as you did, kat.

Malware on the server, or in an advertisement? Wouldn't be the first it happened to a big site. The very best protection is to have a different password for each site you have an account at. If one account is possibly compromised, other accounts stay safe.
I look forward to the announcement to learn what was amiss. |

That was not nice of that person.
Password changed - that person owes me a banana for the trouble I went through |

I just use 15 on average -- some of them I want to remember! And Lastpass of course. Good job mods on containing it so quickly! |

Why not? They're all in Keepass. If a site does not accept them, I shorten them to 25 or 15 characters if need be.

I carry KeepassDroid on my phone, but even if the database AND the key file are stolen (which are both on the phone), the master password is still unknown. |

I need to look into this Keepass....I'm still using a little 16-bit program I got when I was running Windows 3.1. Probably not all that safe these days...
