No user profile
It used to be that if someone sent me Karma and i wanted to than them I'd click on their username and get the user profile page where I could leave a Visitor Message.
Now all I get is a user profile page with some statistics. No Visitor Message or any of the other folder flaps are available. I'm not able to respond to people who leaves me Karma and that feels like I'm being rude to them.

If I get karma from someone who has disabled getting Visitor Messages I send him/her my thanks in the karma field by giving him/her karma back.

But I don't think that you have any reason to feel rude: if someone doesn't give you a possibility to say "thank you" he/she can't blame you if you don't do it.

Hmm, some of these I were able to write to before so I assumed something had changed with the board.

You sure can. I disabled mine when I joined MR. One less thing to read.
