When will the spare battery and USB-to-Ethernet adapter be in stock?

Both the spare battery and the USB-to-Ethernet adapter are critical accessories for traveling with the eDGe.

I need the spare battery, since I often need to work on very long flights with no access to AC. Since the eDGe battery is swappable (and pretty light!) having a spare is a no-brainer for me.
Unfortunately it's always out of stock. I know there were some manufacturer issues with the battery, but is there a new estimate (official or not) of when these might finally be in stock?

Also, the USB-to-Ethernet adapter is essential where no Wi-Fi is available but Ethernet is, which describes a surprisingly large number of hotels around the world. Is there an estimate for when that adapter might be in stock?

Alternatively, if there are third-party USB-to-Ethernet adapters that work with the eDGe, I would love to know. I bought one on Amazon out of desperation, but it didnt work.

For now (and until there's a working Citrix client) I'm stuck with carrying both my laptop and my eDGe on trips. In the future, I'd love to leave the laptop at home and just carry the eDGe.

I have found a third party USB to Ethernet adapter that works! It is a Startech brand, part # USB2106S. They are available on eBay for $13.25....as well as from several other online stores.

It is available from Startech http://www.startech.com/product/item...&search=Search BUT BUT shipping at least to Virginia is $10.52 - nearly equal to the cost of the device ($16.99). I did not buy it...Did leave them feedback with my displeasure at the shipping cost.

Take a look here and see what the shipping is: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...usb%20ethernet

Shipping to my location was under $4.

BTW, it would be interesting to know what the shipping would be from enTourage for their 'way overpriced' adapter.

Take a look at the top-left pic of the adapter in enTourage's store:
http://www.entourageedge.com/accesso...t-adapter.html

Compare with the center pic of this adapter at Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/RJ45-Ethernet-...392153&sr=1-45

It looks like the same photo to me. It's a third-party seller on Amazon.com, but the shipping is reasonable. Total cost including shipping is $7.

It may or may not work. The specs don't mention anything about compatibility with Linux. Of course, at $7 you wouldn't be risking much!

I think someone on the forum has already tried that one and it didn't work. The thread was USB/Ethernet Adapter

Thanks for this. I can actually get this in Vancouver. $18.99. Cheaper than paying the horrendous shipping costs.

I do not agree. If enTourage is going to be successful then it must be competitive. I did not purchase the Cocoon case from enTourage nor will I ebooks that are higher priced.

Not much better $6.99 for a $14.99 item. This is like eBay sellers who set a low price but require a high shipping charge.

Not to belabor the issue, then why sell accessories at all?

Or you can save money and get it really easy and conveniently. Sometimes. Don't count the enTourage bookstore out in your ebook bargain hunt. For example, I wanted to brush up on my Java (been over a decade) so I searched Inkmesh for best price on Sams' Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours. Cheapest was Amazon.com, no surprise, but wrong format. On a whim I checked the bookstore here. Surprise! PDF cheaper than Amazon's Kindle version. By around two bucks!

There was another I put on my wishlist that was only available in ebook form from enTourage's store. Nobody else had it. I see the publisher, Wrox, now has it but its discounted price is two dollars higher. (Professional Android 2 Application Development , new version published a few months ago. Everyone else but Wrox still carry the older ebook version from a year ago.)

Needless to say I now always check here as well as elsewhere for my books.
