updating Calibre

When you update calibre to a later version and are told to delete the
current version you are using, What happens to the library, is it automatically
transferred to updated version. If not how do you get library into new version.
Thanks

Yes your books are transferred automatically. Calibre is always updating, I have decide to stop updating until it is a major release. The program does everything I need it to do without the updates.

There are only a few version upgrades that require a delete (manual).
Most Calibre updates run to the end without further user input after the EULA (GPV3).
It is best to only use the official site (or the linked alternate). All other sources are either outdated or suspect.
Calibre never deletes the Library or the Stored settings (even on a Un-Install)..

BTW questions like this are best handled in the Calibre forum

?Calibre says to uninstall old version before installing new one. That is why I wondered
about losing data. If uninstalling do you go to add/delete programs, or do it some other
way.
Thanks

hi whizbo,
get the installer of the version you have installed and execute it.
there are entries to install / repair / uninstall.

try uninstall.

the current installation user files and lib's will not deleted.

after that you can install the newer versions.

When I update Calibre it automatically removes the older version, I believe. I never do anything but download and install the new version.

I think the last version that needed to be removed before an update was 0.6.16 (and before).
