Among other things I do volunteer driving to bring people home from hospital stays. Had two are booked trips this morning, but with the uncertainty of power had to wait for confirmation; the second was cancelled but the first was still on.
The joys of breaking through the ice on a wheel chair accessible mini van, especially getting all the doors to open! Well over half an hour to get that done. At least once that was done, the rest was plain sailing. Now to sit and wait for more calls. |

Torrential rains started last night around 7:00 PM and continued today until after lunch ...still drizzling ... cold front on its way ... apparently we're to have a flooded Xmas .... temps still in the 60's F today [sorry guys! This is WAY too weird even for the south!]

Same here - today in the 40's F, tonight down to 23 F, with chance of flurries on Xmas day - only in the low 40's F! Yikes!

It's a gorgeous, gorgeous day here in Perth - and for once, today isn't going to be a stonker. Just pleasantly warm. Hoorah!

The current temperature is -24C but feels like -26C. Wonder why Santa brought that with him?

Regarding my bike trip, I called the bike shop on Tuesday morning explaining I wasn't feel safe riding in that weather. We agreed that I would stop by, without my bike, to take the tail light replacement, put it by myself and bring back the defective one later. |

Well, it's chilly here, but not snowing, sleeting, icing, or raining -- and the old snow and ice melted -- so the weather is good enough to go ahead and replace the roof.
So, in a roundabout way, the meteorological phenomenon that's affecting me right now is a deafening din! |

Well - we got a rude surprise this morning - and a wee taste of what you frozen folks have been going through. A band of freezing rain moved in overnight - when I went out to start the car to warm up, the steps were a glistening challenge and the car was completely encased in ice. Fortunately the driveway & road was not coated - apparently the ice was only clinging to elevated surfaces .... like steps ... and bridges .... I pass over one overpass on my way to work and sure enough I 'glided' across - fortunately safely - and got to work.
All melted now .... |
