Why does Calibre not download metadata from Amazon if you enter an ebook edition Isbn? Is there a plug in to add this functionality.

Doesn't calibre go only to ISBNdb if any ISBN is entered?

calibre never downloads metadata from only one source. metadata download is a three stage process with different subsets of the of the plugins participating in each stage. There is a complex algorithm used to determine what is the best match and to merge metadata from different sources.
