Hi Mobile Readers

We have just released the new Wikipedia TomeRaider file, its a big one at over 3 Gigs, but fits well and "plays for free" in TomeRaider.

It can be downloaded from:

Has anybody tried this on their reader yet?
Do the TR3 files convert to others(like .lrf)

The Reader would probably explode from trying to load a 3gb file

I did a quick google search and couldnt find anything on converting tome raider files other than a post in this forum.

Actually the text only files are about 1 gig, and if you want to go real bare bones you can go with somewhat smaller. (If you want it in Esperanto instead of English you can go smaller still

)

I was also looking for google leads on conversion to other formats,but it looks a little suspect.

The reason TomeRaider was picked in the first place is that the tool is especially good an managing huge files. Even if you convert it then you will still have to use a tool that can manage big files and I mean really big. Some of the readers seem to hiccup on 5 Meg files.

Mat,

Could you please do another version that splits it into two pieces? The Palm version of Tomeraider will not open the 3.5 GB version. I would be perfectly happy with an A-L and M-Z.

Hi Michael

We are in the process of creating Wikipedia files in as many languanges as possible (this is our higher priority at the moment). We are aware of the limitaion on Palm version and we will hope to release an Palm friendly version as soon as we get the other wiki's in a stable status.

Bump

Has anyone figured out a way to get Wikipedia offline onto a normal e-reader? I'm getting a sony psr 600 and would LOVE to load up wikipedia (along with other resources, thesaurus, translation dictionaries) on to a big stick. However, as one file, this would never work. Rather, it would need to be a "collection" and be divided (maybe alphabetically, maybe even smaller, by unit)

Perhaps I'll just have to wait until somebody hacks the firmware before this could be done...
