Calibre will only send one book to Kobo

I have been using Calibre for a number of years and I am now on my third Kobo, a Clara 2E.
Previously I had created a collections column which has created shelves and successfully uploaded my library into those shelves with my 2 previous older Kobo models.
I have added a Kobo utilities plugin to Calibre and I’m using version 6.10.0
My initial upload of books was successful but they were not in the collections( shelves). All collections showed zero books.
I factory reset my Kobo, deleted everything and tried to upload my library again.
I now only get one book to upload. If I select a block of books the last book is the only book to upload.
I have now uninstalled Kobo Utilities plugin but the behaviour is the same.
Please help. How can I correct whatever I have done?
I am using calibre on a MacBook Pro.
