Screen Protection
Has anyone developed a method of protecting the unused screen when folded back against each other? Though the 'screen' is recessed unless positioned on a flat level surface, there exists the possibility of damage. As mentioned in thread I intend to carry the eDGe in an industrial environment.

I ordered screen protectors last week, a 10.1 inch netbook protector http://www.overstock.com/Electronics...cid=95138&fp=f and a 9.7 Kindle DX protector http://www.medgestore.com/products/kindledx-screen.psp I'll post after they arrive and let you know how they work out. In the right light and at certain angles I can see little scratches from the stylus on the screens, not a problem yet, but after months of use I can imagine it would become an issue.
I did not like the protector from overstock, had to cut to fit. Still waiting for the other side. The screen protector for the Kindle DX looks like it will be an exact fit for the reader size, I'm waiting patiently for my Klear Screen order before I put on though. The package comes with 3 protectors. Last edited by cheyennedonna; 05-06-2010 at 02:41 PM. |

I was thinking more of some sort of hard material to protect the whole unused side. The screen protectors you listed would prevent scratches from the stylus.

I want to get invisibleSHIELD from http://www.zagg.com/ not only does it have a compatible upper/lowercase spelling scheme but it seems to be a great product.

Cracking screen
When using the eInk screen with the LCD folded to the back, what protects setting the device (screen) down and cracking the LCD? Or vice versa.

Adapt a portfolio cover?
Maybe you could adapt a portfolio cover like this http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Writin.../dp/B002WCSTNY with elastic bands in the corners like this product has
http://www.medgestore.com/products/kindledx-go.psp That would also serve to cover the working screen (for privacy) if you set it down. |

Like 10tklz, I also like Zagg and contacted them about having a invisible shield for the eDGe. They replied promptly with a link for customer requests for shields so I put in a request. They already have 9.7" protectors for Kindle and 10.1" netbooks so it seems that it would be very easy for them to package them up for eDGe users. Here is the link in case you think that an influx of requests would get them moving in our direction: http://www.zagg.com/hotgadgets/index.php

I looked at the Zagg product, but, found this on their site "Please note that some models of laptops have a soft LCD screen. If yours has a soft LCD, the invisibleSHIELD cannot be applied as it can cause damage to soft LCD screens" I assumed that left the edge out.

I have a GP2X Wiz video game which has an OLED screen and it has a kind of "squishiness" in the feel when using its stylus on the touch screen. In comparison, the edge is rigid without any give. |

The ZAGG invisibleSHIELD is available for the eDGe. I ordered one yesterday. I went with the full body. They have the full body and screen only. Not sure if screen only is both screens though.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you, it fits exactly and works fine. No luck finding one for the LCD side though so I ordered the ZAGG, screen only (I already skinned my Edge)

I just bought a full body ZAGG protector from Amazon. Just run a search in Google, key in "zagg invisible shield for entourage edge" and you should get something.
