Question Calibre question:

Can I put a cbr file and turn it into pdf with Calibre?

If yes, can someone tell this inept computer person how?

I find that cbr (comics) can be tough to read on Kobo if the lighting isn't fantastic. Which is not the case with pdf and epubs.

Thanks for your answers people!

Yes you can do a CBR to PDF converison. I'm not sure though that the result will be what you want. I expect the challenges of reading a CBR is related to the image quality (and the probable dithering from colour to grey scale).

According to the calibre user manual PDF is one of the output formats supported by calibre. To do this start calibre and use the Add Books menu and the 'Add books from a single directory' menu item to add the cbr file to calibre. Then select the cbr file in calibre and use the Convert Books menu and the 'Convert individually' menu item. When the convert dialog box is displayed, in the top right hand corner select PDF as the output format. Click the OK button and the conversion will begin. The lower right part of the calibre screen will show that the conversion has been assigned a job and is underway.

You can convert to ebub as well, using the same exact process, but instead selecting EPUB as the output format. Or any other that is offered.
