Books downloading into Docs

I got some great books to download (upload?) onto my Kindle Fire. Now I needed a great way to convert them from .EPUB to .Mobi. Got that with Calibre (Love It).
However when I downloaded (uploaded) my ebooks last night they landed in my Docs folder instead of my Books folder. I have spent the last 7 hours trying to figure this out. It worked the first time I sent books to my KFire, why not this time?

This is a common issue. We need a sticky. When you go to convert to mobi in the conversation window under mobi output remove the pdoc tag and it will show up in books. If that doesn't work as some books are stubborn you can change the pdoc tag to an ebok tag.

Anything you email to your Fire will always show up in documents.

Where is the option to remove a pdoc tag in the convert window?

This must be changed in Preferences -> Output Options -> MOBI Output.

Note that the way this works is that if the ebook has one of the tags listed under Personal Doc tag then the cdetype is changed to PDOC when writing to a Kindle. The usual tag is [PDOC], but no matter what it is the cdetype is always changed to PDOC when the tag is present. You don't want cdetype=PDOC, so leave the Personal Doc tag field blank. Since this only happens when writing to a Kindle, it must be changed in Preferences and not just when creating an individual MOBI.

It's under Mobi Output which is above the last tab debug on the conversation window.
