Tell that to MythBusters.

When I think that most TV shows/commercials are targeted towards the average American, I get really depressed.

At this point, I watch MythBusters primarily to yell at the TV for how they're "doing it wrong". I think Wikipedia has the gist of it:

Don't even get me started. Especially on the vaccine front. There is currently a pertussis epidemic in California, thanks to the likes of Oprah, Jenny McCarthy and outright criminals like Andrew Wakefield and the crap they spread. Nine babies have died as a result. If that was my child, I'd be spitting fire.

Obviously things will vary from one individual to another. Largely, though, you're likely to see the dissipation of contentiousness surrounding gay rights in politics as our generation enters public office. With ebooks, I think eink screens have finally given them a cross-generational appeal, but there are still plenty of individuals who do not find ebooks appealing in the least.

That's probably simply because these are expensive toys. I certainly couldn't have afforded to buy one when I was 17.

Yeah, no joke. Although the wifi only Nook and Kindle are now in the birthday or Christmas gift price range for teenagers. But even given that, I don't see a lot of teenagers begging mom and dad for a dedicated reading device. Haha.

Well, I wouldn't have been able to afford one except I had saved all my money for several months and then there was a sale.
