Can someone explain the Kindle DX differences?
So wikipedia says that there are 3 DX versions:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kindle_DX#Kindle_DX Gen1 = original DX (white) Gen2 = international DX (white) Gen3 = Current DX (Graphite) Pretty easy to understand, however, these ebay listing says graphite gen2: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...#ht_2315wt_985 Was there an update to the Gen3 graphite? Or is this most likely a typo on the ebay poster's part? Also, this review states graphite and 2nd gen... http://talbottcrowell.wordpress.com/...ration-review/ Last edited by FauxTaimer; 10-04-2011 at 08:00 PM. |

It is hardware Gen3 - Kindle DX Graphite. I'm pretty sure that Gen2 in the listing refers to software version. DXG runs on 2.5.8 currently.

It's almost impossible to figure out some of those eBay listings. I don't think the people selling them know what they've got. I saw a couple "DXs" for sale, but the picture was clearly of a K3. Pay close attention to the pictures (if they're posting pictures of the actual Kindle), and ask lots of questions.
I'm looking to buy a DX too. Maybe you and I should get together, so we don't bid up the price on each other! That's my advice. |

The Kindle DX International has a GSM cellular radio. The Kindle DX Graphite is the first Kindle DX to use a Pearl screen. So, the Kindle DX has had 3 hardware versions. |

As far as display tech goes there where only 2 generations of DX. The original display and the Pearl display which is only available on the latest generation of DX (whatever it's being called by the ebay hucksters). Get the Pearl display if you want the latest DX model. I have both models and the Pearl display is an excellent display upgrade.

If it's graphite colored, is is safe to assume that it's the latest version of DX?
