Apple is suing to protect its "innovative products"

According to Reuters, Apple is suing unknown individuals for posting info on upcoming products on the Web. The complaint alleges that "an unidentified individual, acting alone or in concert with others, has recently misappropriated and disseminated through Web sites confidential information about an unreleased Apple product."

Doesn't this complaint basically confirm rumors that Apple has been quietly developing a flash-based iPod MP3 player (I don't recall any other posted info on upcoming Apple products)? Ok, but then again: what is so innovative about an MP3 player with flash memory?

Unless there's more to the product than we know yet. The capacity of the device might be interesting as well... hmmm

And the story continues:

Apple serves subpoenas on the three Mac rumor Web sites AppleInsider.com, PowerPage.org, and ThinkSecret.com, seeking information on who leaked facts about an un-announced audio hardware product code named "Asteroid" or "Q97".

So the leaked product information in question is *not* the supposed Apple Flash Mini.

Names of individuals who might possess information regarding those who alledgedly leaked the product information include "Jason O. Grady," "Kasper Jade," "Paul Scates," and "Bob Borries".

Oh well, looks like someone got Steves really pissed!

You can read the full report here.
