Asus Transformer + Kindle App + Calibre
First time user of an Android tablet and Kindle app. I have ebooks that are converted to .mobi files thanks to Calibre, but when I drag the destination folder of the conversion into the "kindle" folder on the Transformer, the book won't show up in the Amazon Kindle app.
However, when I take out the files of the conversion (contains: .mobi, metadata.opf, and cover.jpg) and place them into the "kindle" folder, the app shows that I have a book in the library. This is annoying because Calibre, as a default, puts everything into folders. Not only that, the cover.jpg would always prompt to change when I add more files (because I'm adding another cover.jpg) Is there a better streamline solution? Thanks |

You're not supposed to manually access the library folders. In your case, the best solution would probably be to set up the folder device to use MOBI and connect to the Kindle folder on your tablet. Then you should be able to just use the send to device- function to send your books to the device.

For some reason when I try to send to device, it doesn't recognize the Transformer`s kindle folder as a hard drive-- only as a portable device. Therefore I cant connect calibre to the transformer

Use Save to Disk, then. You can separately specify (copy) the same template as you used in send to device.

ok, i'm really not all that tech inclined yet. i'm going to need more instructions than that. i'm having the same prob. i have a kindle and an asus transformer tablet. the kindle auto shows and no probs. the tablet doesn't. i don't care if it's the kindle app that calibre syncs to. better question is are there any android apps that calibre willl sync with?

When I send a book to my [name]@free.kindle.com it appears fine in my Kindle 3, why can't the other Kindle enhanced devices, like my Transformer receive those books as well? I try and send them to my GMail account and the attachment shows on the file but no application is associated with it. I would have imagined that at least Aldiko would recognize the attachment even if Kindle4Droid doesn't.
Is the mail service strictly limited to the Kindle device? If so does that imly there will be no syncing between devices? |
