Znet suggests Kindroid (Android on Kindle)

In Kindroid: Two great tastes that would taste great together at Znet, Jason Perlow suggests porting Google's Android (First Android Phone and Three Application Stores Launch) to the Kindle. This isn't going to happen, but it isn't crazy. I think it would be possible to base a next generation E-Ink device (with a touch screen and the Epson controller) on Android - which won't always be just for cell phones. Note that Android applications are written in Java, see Five Common Myths About Linux and Android.

Rather than an e-ink screen, I think that it would be a great idea to create an Android device based on Pixel Qi's technology: http://www.pixelqi.com/products

Hi there. It is definitely not crazy and quite viable. Android can run on E-Ink displays. I've started doing that port. My current status is posted here: http://highlycomposite2.blogspot.com...-on-e-ink.html
