updated to 2.32 - now cant convert to pdf

actually just restarted in debug mode and somehow that managed to see it sucessfully complete the job converting from an epub to pdf, but its still a problem

basically in normal mode with this latest install of Calibre 2.32, trying to convert anything to pdf sees it taking from 15-40 minutes before it realizes it cant finish, apposed to the average of 40 *seconds* with the earlier install (from 2012 iirc)

anyway this time in debug mode, it took about 15 minutes, and appears this greater wait times because its now deciding to create much larger files. Eg an epub of 4MB used to create a pdf of roughly equal size, but this latest ones 10 times the size of the epub converted from

As youd guess, idk what to look for in the debug report, have uploaded it as attachment, if anyone wants to take a look to see if they can recommend settings changes. Otherwise guess reinstalling Calibre is the next thing to try

edit, ok think this is resolved. After noticing a debug log mention

calibre 2.32 isfrozen: True is64bit: False

realized mabye the 32bit version id installed didnt play nice with 64bit windows, so found and installed the 64bit version and seems back to normal, converting quickly and small file sizes

On Calibre Win X64 there was no notice of V2.32.1
IF 2.31 was installed.
(I noticed the dot 1 notice on my 1.48 install. )

It is not meant to show notifications for hotfixes. If someone has the specific problem the hotfix fixed, they will ask questions, and find out about the hotfix. Otherwise, there is no need to redownload calibre -- and eat bandwidth.

Or so Kovid's reasoning went.

I got an RSS notify for 2.32.1 - but not for 2.32.0

I assume just like the no notifications, a hotfix fully replaces the original version. The changelog had its 2.32.0 entry updated to say "2.32.1 -- bug fix -- There was a regression in 2.32.0 that caused conversion to PDF to fail, the fix for this was released in 2.32.1". No mention otherwise of 2.32.0

I am also happy to see the version bump.

Can't recall if there was an RSS notify for 2.32.0, if there was it must have been overwritten by 2.32.1. I see that Filehippo has calibre, is that recent?

AFAIK the only official mirrors are GitHub, SourceForge (not any longer I think?), and FossHub.
I guess FileHippo mirrors someone else.

They only list 6 versions, including both of this week's releases.
