Not sure what the big fuss is over, positive or negative. PDF is my only ebook format, and it looks like Blio will be similar. Not sure what market demands PDF with multimedia, unless it has advanced text to speech ability.

Sort of, but I expect it's a browser-based app (or maybe Java, something that runs cross-platform). It could be useful, as it will be a vendor-neutral way to do things like magazines.

It may have some utility, but hard to say. One thing is that the promise of cross-platform rarely works out quite as promised. E.g. if you do a layout for a 16:9 horizontal laptop screen, that layout will be a nightmare on a vertical smartphone screen.

what the crap do you smoke to make you write such stoopid things?

Sales must be pretty bad if you need to crawl out and begin slamming competing products again...hell this is not even anything in production yet...not running scared at all I suppose?

I really see no point in yet another format. They need to get onto a standard and stick to. Right now, that standard is ePub, and I see noting that Blio can do that would justifiy changing everyting all over again. The ePub -> mobi switch was a mess enough, tank you very much. And downgrade to a non-reflow, closed format ?
There is everything needed in css3 and html5, just a question of adobe implementing these.

This would be nice for Comics! Technical books, Recipe books... etc etc

Having this pretty looking app organise and give me access to those sort of books on my tablet seems like a nice option.

dont really understand the hate as PDF doesnt really give me such a nice UI as this seems to.

Ah I see, I actually thought they were reffering to Kovids post initially...

still if you replaced "astek" with "ebook with eink screen" what he said would be perfectly valid so maybe not too bad imo
