Old iRex website

Does anybody have copies of old iRex website contents? The wayback machine and google's cache didn't help me.

I have the impression it might be useful to document the changes somewhere, especially since April '06. iRex seems to solve problems by changing the Iliad's description on the website - like the sudden disappearance of DRM support. I fear a little bit that sooner or later the 21-hour announcement will be silently downgraded to 10 hours, and we have nothing to prove that we actually paid for something else.

the back of the iliad box should be proof enough for the 21 hours claim

I still have my box. And it says "... read 3 hours a day 7 days a week ..." Should be sufficient. Or am I wrong?

I think now I better keep it (not that I really was thinking about throwing it way).

Yeah, but there's more. I remember that networking was just listed as "connectivity/interfaces" (you could argue that it suggests you can add content over it), while now they make clear you cannot actually use the network other than for software updates. Also there's "taking notes" (format dependent), while currently the only "format" you can write on is single-page images. There was also some changing going on with SD cards, I just can't remember how. Plus there's the deadlines / release dates that are shifting all the time.

I guess my paranoia starts kicking in...

It would feel better if I could point somewhere and say "but you claimed this" without fearing they just rewrite what I'm pointing at.

Have you noticed how the flow of "we're improving power management" announcements stopped lately? It's not even mentioned in the 2.7 announcement at all. I guess we already got the final battery life...

Check out the Dutch Website which hasn't been updated in a while: http://www.irextechnologies.nl/

Attached is an older version of the product leaflet dated March 2006. Only changes I found to the current product leaflet:
  • old: Connection to the Internet is possible via integrated WiFi or
    Ethernet cable.
  • new: Connection to the iDS via Internet is possible via integrated
    WiFi or Ethernet cable.
  • old: The ER 0100 is a very low power mobile device, specifically
    designed for reading applications.
  • new: The ER 0100 is a low power mobile device, specifically
    designed for reading applications.

suppose the trouble we have now is when will it be officially out of beta.
how long will we have to wait before saying enough is enough and ask for a refund due to breach of contract.

I guess that's now. Starting a "beta tester program" means everyone who's not in the program doesn't have beta software, right? That's why I switched from "shut-up-and-wait"- to "go-rampage-in-every-forum"-mode again.

(That's "Meta-X rampage-mode" for people who understand that...)

The Wayback machine has a lag of somewhere between three months and a year, I forget which exactly. It is somewhere in their FAQ.
