French writer named Hello

His first name was translated here,so I cant find him.It was something like "Ernest".The book I have was published in 1920 here,as a translation and its name would be translated as "Weird/strange stories".

The first story is named "Louis",I believe,and it is about a greedy man,who deports his familly into meaner and meaner lodgins to save money,which he pasionately loves (he TRULY adornes it,as a god,almost).He has a dog,which he wants to sell,but cant.later,he buys a secure safe,which is locked by a code name-he choses the name "god"-but,at the end,he cant remember-and only does dying,after he is atacked and killed by his dog, freeing his wife and daughter.

any ideas?

Any chance it is Auguste Villiers de L’isle Adam and his Contes Cruels which he wrote in several volumes? If so, there are couple of his works here that Patricia converted and posted.

Oops. Missed the author's actual name as Hello. Okay, is it actually Ernest Hello and his book Contes Extraordinaires ?

could be,though Wikipedia had nothing on him.But yeah,thats probably him.If its not translated yet,I may take the time.

The Contes Extraordinaires do not appear to have been translated into English. And I can't find an online French text, though the book is available in treeware format at Amazon.fr

The Internet archive only has one other (religious) work and a chapter about him in someone else's book:

Ernest Hello is a very interesting author, but I don't think that any of his texts are available online.

well then,I may set to it,if it aint ilegal to translate a 1920 czech translation from an obscure ,long non existing fan comunity .
