Exclamation Sony eReader Software on Vista Ultimate SP2 64 bit

To all,

I am having a terrible time with this software package. I downloaded the newest version from the website and installed it. Once done I restarted the machine. No errors occured during install. Upon restart I doubleclick on the Sony ereader program and get the active icon indicating a program is starting but then it crashes before it even starts! Windows informs me there has been a problem with the program and it needs to be closed. The only option at this time is to close the program. I have never seen the actual program screens, it just does not get that far. Below are the event viewer logs.

Faulting application eBook Library.exe, version 2.5.0.0, time stamp 0x48c71e1f, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0x4000001e, fault offset 0x00654340, process id 0x130c, application start time 0x01c9e4b449944df8.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Problem Solved!!

Well, I have solved my own problem. I simply went to Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings>Advanced Tab, Settings button>Data Execution Prevention Tab>Turn on DEP for all Programs and Services EXCEPT those I select

Click ADD button, Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Reader\Data\Bin\eBook Library.exe

Highlight ebook Library.exe and click OPEN button. File now shows in box. Click APPLY button. Click OK button. Restart computer. Try ereader program now! Works for me.

Vista issue

AndyBaby,

Thanks for the quick response, and I know you will be surprised but I tried your solution before I posted my question. It did not work for me. I actually looked over the board before posting this!
