Is the Cybook really over 2.5" taller than the Sony?

To accommodate it I'd have to go back to having shirts tailored w/ extra large pockets....

No, I think you might have your figures a little wrong.

The Gen3 is 188 x 118 x 9mm
The Sony is 176 x 124 x 13mm

The Gen3 is therefore 12mm (slightly under half an inch) taller, and 6mm (1/4") narrower than the Sony.

The two machines have an identical screen - the size difference is in the screen "surround".

The Gen3's width and height are virtually identical to those of a standard paperback book, although it's a lot thinner.

HarryT, thanks, I was wondering 'bout that.

FYI, it looks like the X, Y coordinates for dimensions in https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_Reader_Matrix are inconsistent, which was the source of my confusion.

The figures are correct, but displayed in a different order for the two machines; you're right.
