I myself, find it a refreshing change from the monopoly that Third Person Omniscient seems to have on the genre. There's no chapter breaks either. |

I'd thought I'd chime in, I got the whole first season of the TV show on my Tivo through netflix, and I'm watching it right now. Why did they cancel this?

Because the same brain surgeons that decided Jay Leno is a better draw than Conan O'Brien also thought that reruns and B-Movies are better draws than the SciFi (I'm sorry SyFy) original series...
BTW: It's also the same geniuses that changed the Sci-Fi to SyFy |

Thanks for the mention of the Fictionwise discount today. Got five books for about $13 - can't beat that.

I also found the 2 hour pilot as a torrent which aired in Canada but not in the U.S. (Storm Front or Episode 8 which was cut down to 45 mins). The quality was really bad. It had a couple of original touches. Bob only lived in the skull and had orange flickering eye lights. Harry had a basement lab. |

I've really got to watch True Blood. But I didn't like the first book all that much so I haven't given it much thought. First on my list is Boardwalk Empire |

I'll also chime in for The Hallows books by Kim Harrison, and the Nightside books by Simon R. Green.
Give Glen Cook's Garrett, P.I. books a look too. Although the protagonist himself is a little more normal then Dresden, I think you'll find the feel is similar. |

I have to recommend Kate Griffin's "Matthew Swift" urban fantasy books, A Madness of Angels and The Midnight Mayor, in addition to most of the other series that have been mentioned here already.

If you liked Dresden, you will like the Glenn Cook novels starting with Sweet Silver Blues.
Below is someone else's review of the series. http://www.greenmanreview.com/book/b...garrettpi.html |

Y'all are killing me!! I'm reading all these and adding and adding to my page in OneNote for "authors/series/books to look for". At this rate, I will be bankrupt FOREVER, cause every extra penny I get goes to buy more books!!
Thank goodness for ebooks. Buying at the rate I have been over the past year and a half, there wouldn't be room for US in this house if it was physical books! |

Indie author Richard Jackson's The Gift Of Fury was free at Amazon at the beginning of November and is still just 99 cents. It has a kind of Jim Butcher feel to it.

I just started reading the Sandman Slim book. I'm only a few pages in and already love it! Just the snarky ticket I was looking for. Thanks for the suggestion!
And thanks to all who continue to add suggestions to this thread. I will have much fun reading over the holidays. |
