This morning a 10-ton meteor shot into our atmosphere at about 33,000 miles per hour and broke apart at an altitude of 20-30 miles over the Ural Mountains in Russia. It left a trail of smoke and made a huge burst of light which was followed moments later by a glass-shattering sonic boom.

About 500 people have been reported injured, mostly from broken glass. Thankfully, no deaths so far.

Interesting though this is, it has nothing to do with the subject areas of MR, hence moved to the Lounge.

Thanks for that account. It is the first that I had read that mentioned the Tunguska event of 1908. Glad that it appears that no dead so far and only a few serious injuries.

It's nice to know that outlandish conspiracy theorists are not confined to the United States. Is the Liberal Democratic Party the Russian equivalent of the American Tea Party?
