Formatting Ebooks

Is there any tips or tutorials on formatting books? If I want to start creating books from source files like PG, but I want to improve the format, page breaks etc. I would love to read over some tutorials. Also is there any way to edit .lit files? Or would I go .lit->epub->html?

Tips on creating good epubs with caliber would be awesome too!

You would go LIT -> OEB (html, images and .opf). Use either "ConvertLIT GUI" or Calibre's lit2oeb.

As wallcraft said, ConvertLIT or calibre's lit2oeb will both give you HTML from LIT files. I would suggest lit2oeb over ConvertLIT however, as lit2oeb fixes several bugs which can result in deformed extraction.

EPUB quality is mostly about the quality of your source markup. If you have high-quality HTML markup you pre-split into files at all page-break, calibre's any2epub will give you just about the best EPUB book you can make.
