A Travis McGee question

Not sure whether this is the right place for this question, but no sure which is better.

In which book does McGee meet Meyer?

Book 3, A Purple Place For Dying.

Meyer gets mentioned in the third and fourth books, but doesn't make an appearance until the fifth, A Deadly Shade of Gold. There is no meet though, they are already friends when Meyer is mentioned: "My friend Meyer, the economist, says that cretins are the only humans who can be absolutely certain of their own sanity."

Oops! my answer was when Meyer was first mentioned. On contemplating the question again I'd have to say that I don't remember that any actual 'first meeting' was ever described in any of the 21 novels.

ok, thanks! My DH has never read any of them, just finished listening to the first one from Audible, but was interested in the Meyer character more than Travis himself.

Yeah, McGee lived on The Busted Flush and Meyer on the John Maynard Keynes both docked in Bahia Mar.

I have a friend who seems to have them memorized - I asked her my question, and she not only could give me chapter and verse (it's book 5) but told me about his general story arc through the books (apparently he gets badly raked over in one book, and spends the next book rebuilding himself) and tons of other stuff. And she doesn't have an ereader to do the research with - it's all from memory. I don't have that detailed a memory of books I finished yesterday!
