Gotta have apps in order to succeed. Zune HD went down because it didn't have apps.

That's it? They quit? Man if I were on their webos team or a dev or customer, I'd be one unhappy camper.
That's just weird, that a company that big can't stick it out for at least 6 months. Supposedly they want to spin off their PC business too. What are they going to do, go back to making printers and calculators? |

But that kind of stuff you don't see on TV too much, or people talking about it. It is a different kind of market. IPG is also a strong one, or used to be. |

I agree - I was developer for webos and I told them repeatedly that they needed to be very aggressive to get their foot in the door. It fell on deaf ears. The exclusive deal with one mediocre phone when they started with Sprint was the beginning of their undoing. Android was brand new and only at T-mobile. If Palm had flooded the carriers with devices they may have been sitting where Google is right now |

To any Canadans out there, Best Buy Canada and Future Shop are apparently having liquidation sales on TouchPads.
I'm guessing it won't be long until something similar happens here in the US. Last edited by Dylrob; 08-20-2011 at 12:47 AM. |

I'm getting one tomorrow. I can't resist this price. What if this is just a strategic move? This will sell them more tablets than any fancy iPad-like commercial on TV. Something's fishy about HP's announcement yesterday that they're out of the mobile and PC business...

I'd consider getting one - but no cash on hand means a 3 hour walk to the nearest FutureShop (gods only know how long it'd take to reach the Best Buy ). Besides, with HP dumping it, you're stuck with only the limited selection of apps that come on it and, if you're lucky and HP decides to be nice about it, those very few apps in their app store...
