Getting "AvantGo"-like file sizes with iSiloX.
I tried a search, but just couldn't find this particular answer. I like how Turcic converted a buncha AG stuff into iSilo format so that we (the people) can cut-and-paste our favorite channels into our own iSilo windows and HotSync them to our wonderful PDA's.
My question is how does one (like myself) convert for myself an AG channel using iSiloX without getting a humongous file size? The channels Turcic converted stayed in the KB region, but whenever I try to convert a channel not on that list, I get a many MB's size file. Do I need to create a custom channel on my AG account before I can use that URL to create a custom channel using iSiloX? Just how did Turcic convert those channels and is it easy enough that not-super-duper techy people like me can do so? I greatly appreciate any help y'all can give me. My free demo is up tomorrow and I'd like to buy iSilo cuz I like it. I just want to the freedom to add my own channel at KB sizes. POL9A |

The iSilox channels here are created from pda-friendly urls. If you try to convert a standard Web page full of graphics and banners and such, you will indeed get a bloated iSilo file.
If you can locate the mobile-, text-, or pda-friendly version of a Web site/page, you can successfully create an iSilo file that's smallish (even these can get very large if you set the link depth high to catch everything within a site!). Most pda-friendly pages, especially news-related sites, are controlled and limited on how far they link, thus they are smallish. You cannot determine the url of an AvantGo-synced site from within AvantGo...it takes some detective work. Read this thread: http://www.turcic.com/forums/showthr...=finding+sites Having said that, you can, somewhat successfully, capture regular Web pages/sites by using the exclude/include filter in iSiloX, but it gets kinda hairy and complex to do so!
